For the past couple months, we have had the opportunity to substitute teach at the Bridge Pa Seminary. They lost their teacher (she was hired to teach at a school out of town), so the parents and we have been taking turns teaching until the term is over, which is in mid-December. We teach on Tuesday mornings at 7:00 am, and we usually have 12 students present: one girl and eleven boys. We teach at the Bridge Pa building, which is also the Hastings Stake Center. It's been a great experience re-learning stories from the Old Testament...from Isaiah through Hosea so far. We've also been trying to work with the students to learn the 25 Scripture Mastery scriptures also, which is a great program for everyone. Those are great scriptures, our favorite being Jeremiah 16:16, which is about missionary work.
"Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks."
In the last days, the Lord will send missionaries to gather Israel. Missionaries work hard "fishing" and "hunting" for the honest in heart. We feel like fishing is a little bit more passive, because as the Lord says, "after I will send for many hunters". So, in these latter days we actively hunt for those whose hearts are ready to turn to the Lord.
Young man holding scriptures on the front row is not a member of our Church but enjoys coming; the boy next to him and the second boy (from the left in the back) are twins. The boy in the back middle in the red shirt, the boy in front of him in the navy jacket, and the girl to his right, are brothers and sister (the bishop's kids). All of these kids are delightful, and it's been fun getting to know them.
